The Bretteville sur Laize twinning commitee is in charge for 30 years of the organisation of cultural french-german exchange between local families or young people and people from the partner city of Massbach. The twinning commitee has developped an ESC hosting project together with 2 social and solidarity organisations in Bretteville: a media library and a resource center with missions around youth, mobility, sustainable development and culture through books and other communication media.

Bretteville sur laize is a rural town in the plain of Caen. It is 23 km from the city center of Caen (Prefecture of Calvados), 40 km from the sea and 15 km from Suisse Normande. It has 2000 inhabitants, has about fifteen shops, health structures, schools and college, a bus line and many sports and cultural associations and a cinéma.
