Korashan Association offers a social and environmental sustainable model for rural regeneration. It is based on a holistic approach to restore health, revitalize the community and regenerate local biodiversity. The project is situated in the parish of Sobral Pichorro. For the last 50 years, rural populations in the interior of Portugal have decreased, as people left in search of more opportunities for their families through education and city life. Together, they are the guardians, not only of the land but also of the ways and traditions.

KA aims to promote the integration and interaction of people with the environment, revitalizing and restoring the balance between them; promote a culture of conscientious living, which combines ancestral wisdom with
innovation; promote biodiversity, reforestation and the sustainable use of resources, acting beyond simple conservation;
promote spiritual ecology, enhancing inspiration, education and well-being. An important objective of the organization is to
facilitate and enable the return of young people to come and rejuvenate the community. The methods and activities done by
KA can be successfully applied in many regions that have suffered similarly from depopulation.

Korashan Association works in partnership with Vale das Lobas a rural regeneration project around nature tourism.It is showing how it is possible to restore a damaged ecosystem,revitalize a community, and create a sustainable tourism destination.
