Beschreibung der Einrichtung

Lipu was born in 1965 from the desire to create a community dedicated to the protection of birds, the promotion of environmental culture and the education of young people about the environment. Lipu involves the entire population in its activities, with a main focus on young people.
It carries out a wide range of activities at national level:
the promotion and implementation of species and habitat conservation actions, the management of protected areas, and the acquisition of natural areas for the conservation of biodiversity;
the management of centers for the recovery of wildlife and the promotion of urban ecology activities;
promotion of environmental education and ecological culture through guided tours, nature trails with schools, summer camps and residential activities aimed at children and young people;
implementation of direct nature protection actions and scientific research activities;
support for sustainable agriculture, promoting the responsible use of natural resources and carrying out supervisory activities;
participation in projects at local, national and international level and networks with similar purposes, promoting and supporting the third sector and volunteering;
organization of awareness campaigns, communication events and fundraising activities.
Lipu has 76 employees, three national offices (Parma, Rome and Cesano Maderno), 26 nature reserves with over 100,000 visitors per year, and 9 wildlife recovery centers.
