Trillargento is a social-music orchestra and choir program established in 2015 in Genoa, Italy. It offers ensemble music education to children and young people, particularly those in vulnerable situations or with disabilities, aiming to use music for a permanent social change. Trillargento is inspired by the music-pedagogical experience of El Sistema, conceived in Venezuela by J.A.Abreu in 1975 and then spread throughout many countries of the world, giving children and young people with less opportunities the chance for a personal development. This also contributes to the cultural and social empowerment of the community at large. Trillargento emphasizes personal development and empowerment, involving participants and their families in music programs, helping them reaching their full potential and becoming active members of society. Since its inception, Trillargento has provided over 20,000 hours of musical training to around 2,000 individuals, including children, young people, and adults of their educational community. Annually, it engages about 300 music students in orchestra, choir and community music activities, supported by an artistic and educational director, 20 music teachers, educators, a developmental psychologist, and 36 volunteers. The program currently includes 5 orchestras, a teen rock band, a children's choir, and musical experiences for adults. There are 5 orchestras, a rock band of teens, a children’s choir and some musical experiences for adults.
