The Samogitian Museum "Alka" is a state museum and a state budgetary institution that collects, preserves, researches, and promotes the cultural heritage of Samogitia. Its goal is to preserve and present the history, archaeology, ethnography, art, sacred art, numismatics, and natural values of the Samogitian Eldership, the Dioceses of Samogitia and Telšiai, and the ethnic communities characteristic of Samogitia. The museum fosters historical and cultural awareness in society, strengthens regional identity, and ensures the accessibility of heritage. The museum operates in five branches, each presenting different areas of Samogitian culture and history: The Samogitian Museum "Alka", The Samogitian Village Museum ,The Museum of the Diocese of Samogitia, Rainiai Chapel of Suffering ,Telšiai Yeshiva. The museum collects, researches, restores, and organizes educational programs, exhibitions, publications, and digital dissemination activities. Its target groups are local communities, young people, scientists, heritage conservation specialists, tourists, and cultural institutions in Lithuania and abroad.
