Nowadays, the youth is looking more and more in the ecovillage experience for answers to the challenges that the global world brings up to them. The ecovillage movement aims to connect with nature and human needs for health, integration and coherent vision of the future and its objectives are sustainability and resilience. Los Portales, founded in 1984 and located in Castilblanco de los Arroyos (Seville, Spain), is one of the oldest and stablest ecovillages in Spain. Since 2011, young people from all over the world have come looking for an experience that meets these challenges, and then brought this seed back to their places of origin. The aim of this experience is to make young people aware of the importance of living in healthy self-construction spaces, providing them with tools and experiences that will enable them in the future to continue training or experiment with what they have learnt, in order to intervene in situations that may require this knowledge.

As a host organisation, we have a space provided for the welcome of volunteers. It is a house with shared rooms with wardrobes, shared bathroom, kitchen and living room. The house has drinking water in all taps and wood heating. All food we cook is mostly organic and vegetarian and we prioritize cooking with ingredients from the garden. Sometimes people cook with meat, but there is always a vegetarian option. The organization will ensure the transportation of volunteers to the nearest town whenever cars are available and, whenever possible, combined with other departures.

The objective of the project is to propose to the participants a series of experiences. Volunteers will participate in activities such as - the management of an orchard to produce food for 50 people - cooking for groups: learning how to compose menus and quantities - natural cosmetics, based on plants and ingredients existing on the farm - goat's milk production and processing of dairy products - the production of organic artisan bread - management of three types of renewable energies - bio-construction with local materials - management of personal and group processes.

The participants in this project do not need any previous experience for the planned activities described below. However, they are expected to show interest in the ecovillage way of life, with all that this implies in terms of cooperation, sustainability, sensitivity to issues of social inclusion and equity, as well as environmental issues.
