Our EVS volunteers are involved in almost all the processes related to everyday operation of independent cultural venue. They sell tickets before the events, they distribute posters, prepare guest room or catering for artists, help us at the café. For this particular EVS position, the main creative activity will be photo documentation of all the events and activities we do. The volunteer will be responsible also for uploading the photos on our online photo archive on flickr.com/photos/stanica/. Other activities depends on mutual discussion and on the individual preferences, background and profile of the volunteer. He/she can develop his own activity which makes sense and fits with our programme (for example workshop). During 12 months spent in our organisation, the volunteer can gain unique experience for people who would like to continue working in the independent cultural field. We are looking for a person who will actively look for new tasks and activities if he will be idle.
Majoitus, ateriat ja kuljetukset
We have 5 EVS volunteers at a time, working on different parts of the organization, venue, events and tasks, as well as working together. Our volunteers are accomodated in fully equiped rented flat(s) with separate rooms, in a walking distance from the venue. In Žilina, our town, 85-thousand people live, it is located not far from mountains. This town is suitable for walking/biking, mass transportation not needed. Each volunteer gets 270 euro monthly for food and pocket money. They can cook at their flat, the kitchen is fully equipped. The travelling costs are covered fully.

We share our knowledge within all the team. We constantly teach each other and we permanently learn from each other. Same with EVS volunteers, we try to share our skills and experience with them. In the starting period, the volunteers are introduced into the work of every crew member, so they can understand who does what and how. This enables volunteers to decide what they want to focus on, what activity and skill they want to develop or grow. With each EVS, it's a different story. It depends on the individual interests.
