Descrizione del progetto

Location: Schio (almost 40000 inhabitants), a village lying at the foot of the small dolomites, mountains famous all over the world for their beauty that makes them a tourist destination for skiers and hikers. Places that have sadly also been protagonists and witnesses of the First World War. Receiving Organization :Comunità Servizi is a social cooperative that provides social services and assistance to adults with disabilities aged between 15 and 65. In particular, it works with people with severe mental retardation and medium or reduced physical autonomy. Our goal is to offer adequate support in a small and familiar environment where people with disabilities can develop residual autonomies and abilities. Role and tasks (in short): the volunteer will provide support to educators in activites of animation, activities in the gym and in the pool, workshops, gardening, music therapy, artistic activities, activities with schools (to promote the culture of acceptance)

Alloggio, vitto e trasporto

FOOD: food allowance + meals available at the community's canteen ACCOMODATION: flat shared with other evs volunteers. Single bedroom. Facilities included. POCKET MONEY: 120 euro/month WORKING HOURS: 31hours/week DAY OFF: 2 days/week (2 weekends/month, the others during the week). HOLIDAYS: 2 days/month (can be accumulated) + 1 week at Christmas LOCAL TRANSPORT: the organization provides a bike. In case of bad weather an alternative transport to the community will be arranged. TRAVEL EXPENSES: refunded up to 275 euro (tickets and receipts are needed)

Formazione durante il progetto

In addition to the "On arrival training" and the "Mid-term evaluation" provided by the National Agency for all EVS' volunteers, we provide a "Welcome training" of two weeks where group and individual moments are planned to know some fundamental aspects of EVS, of local culture and of the receiving organization. The volunteer will also attend a language course (80hours, 40 during the welcome training). During the whole experience he/she will also trained in relation to the specific activities carried out in the project (important: we are not talking of professional skills)

- creative, patient and proactive person; - friendly, communicative and active attitude; - wishing of developing interpersonal relationships; - strong interest in volunteering in the context described in the infokit to have intensive experience of work with people with disabilities; - willingness for living in a small, traditional and provincial town and to reach the place of service riding the bike (30') - open-minded and with a responsible attitude to better understand the learning process and the rules of cohabitation; - to be interested in learning a different European language.
