No elder alone in PACA region (France)

In France, 1 older adult out of 4 is isolated. The non-profit "les petits frères des Pauvres" has been fighting against that for more than 70 years. The goal is to allow 2 young European to have a memorable and exciting experience of volunteering within a well-known organization where staff and volunteers work alongside in order to relieve isolation and loneliness which is growing among the elderly in our modern societies. They will be part of the team of La Seyne and will contribute to our main general activities: - Visiting program (home or nursing home visits, phone calls...) - Organise social projects (special events, cultural activities) - Participate in communication and raising awarness for the cause - Participate in finding new volunteers and elderly They will also work together to accomplish a common project: creating a « book » of activities that can be done in the surroundings with the elderly or creating a communication tool to promote the action of the team...

Konaklama, yemek ve yol ayarlamaları

Location of accomodation and mission: La Seyne-sur-Mer (8km from Toulon, South of France). This city along the seaside is calm during winter and very lively during summer. The 2 volunteer have their own bedroom in a house shared together. They receive monthly money for food and pocket money. The organization provides a monthly card for local transportation.

Proje sırasında eğitim

- They will benefit from a dedicated training during the mission, along with young French volunteers. They will take part in On-arrival and Mid-term trainings organized by the French National Agency. - Supervision and advices will be provided by experimented staff and volunteers. Conditions will be created to allow the EVS volunteers to fit-in well in their new environment and to get to meet other young people.

We are looking for 2 volunteers from Germany and Turkey who are: • Able to have a conversation in French and the will to progress • Motivated and are willing to participate actively in the activities proposed with the elderly • In capacity to work in a team and to be in contact with others • Demonstrate autonomy and initiative • Open-minded, a willingness to learn & work with a diverse group of volunteers The ideal candidate loves being with older adults, can recognise their value and appreciate their experience. He/She wants to help them live their lives as independently as possible.
