A Walk through the History of Madeira is a project that intends to present the culture and history of Madeira through guided tours and other cultural activities such as exhibitions or fado concerts. The guided tours take place across Funchal in several locations such as the Historical City Centre, the City Hall or the Jesuits’ College of Funchal, among other attractions and landmarks. By performing the guided tours and explaining their purpose to the guests, the volunteer assumes an important role in the promotion of social support programmes developed by the University of Madeira Students' Union which enable various endeavours such as the refurbishment of the University of Madeira, providing school supplies and daily meals to less fortunate students or acquiring scientific publications for the library of the University of Madeira. The chosen volunteer will share a room at the University of Madeira’s Student Residence, which is about 15-20 minutes (walking distance) from the workplaces. In their room, the volunteers will have a shared closet, bathroom, desk, chair and bookcase, as well as Internet access. All the expenses related to accommodation are covered by the host organization. Additionally, each volunteer will receive a food allowance and pocket money on a monthly basis. The chosen volunteers will be enrolled by their sending organization to insurance which covers the complete duration of their mobility.

Þjálfun/nám meðan á verkefninu stendur

1) On-Arrival Training provided by the Erasmus+ Portuguese National Agency; 2) Mid-Term Training provided by the Erasmus+ Portuguese National Agency; 3) Informal training provided by the host organization on History and Culture.

Eiginleikar sem óskað er eftir

a) Young man/woman between 18 and 30 years old; b) Intermediate English level (B1) c) The candidates should be proactive, communicative and motivated to take part in a project with a strong focus on investigation, interaction with the public and with a structured daily routine.
