DiscoverEU meet up Rovaniemi, Finland

Unique arctic city vibes. Stunning nature landscapes. The home of Santa Claus. Warm-hearted Lappish people.

Welcome to Finland, the land of breath-taking nature and the home of heavy metal music! This meet up is organized in Rovaniemi, which is the official hometown of Santa Claus. Rovaniemi is a unique town with lots of fun things to do, traditional food experiences, cultural sites, and beautiful nature all around. You will fall in love with the town and its warm-hearted people!

We will provide two nights (7th - 9th December) in a hostel and meals for two days free of charge for you. We will also provide the necessary transportations for both days. Meet up will start on Wednesday (7th Dec) morning with the arrival to the hostel and end on Friday (9th Dec) morning with departures from the hostel.

On Wednesday you will get to know the other travelers who will join the meet up. We will visit the Arktikum which is a science centre and museum that lets you experience northern nature, culture, and history up close. The plan is also to familiarize you with the local handicraft making. On Thursday we will get closer to the arctic nature, pet the local reindeer and hopefully have some snow-fun! There will also be a chance to experience the authentic sauna, the Finnish style.

There will be places for 14 participants and we will organise the event if we have received minimum 8 participants until 6^th November by midnight. We expect that everyone will participate actively in the whole meet up programme. You can participate to this meet up if you are travelling now with the DiscoverEU Pass or if you are a former Finnish DiscoverEU traveler (Finnish DiscoverEU ambassador). The registration is binding. More detailed information about the meet up will be given to the participants in November. Meet up is organized by the Finnish National Agency for Education. We follow the principles of Safe Space.

The train connections in Finland can be checked from this page: https://www.vr.fi/en. If you arrive in Rovaniemi from Helsinki by train, we recommend arriving with the night train which arrives to Rovaniemi at 11.13. on 7^th December.
