'Island Life' - Discover life in Malta & Ireland

‘Island Life’

We have an exciting Island-Hopping experience planned just for you.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity offers the experience of travelling to 2 very different EU Island Nations, Malta & Ireland, to experience the similarities and differences between life and culture on both islands. Enjoy cultural activities, the opportunity to enjoy delicious local cuisine and fun activities and workshops that you won’t want to miss.

Experience a 6-day fun, interactive and cultural programme, which includes:

• 3 nights' accommodation & meals in Malta (17^th-20^th June 2026)
• Boat trip around Valleta, Malta’s historical capital city
• Visit Rabat & Mdina, also known as ‘The Silent City’ (Game of Thrones, Troy & Gladiator were filmed there!!)
• Gain an insight into Malta’s history, architecture, and cultural identity as an island nation
• Flights between Malta and Ireland included (20^th June 2026)
• 3 nights' accommodation & meals in Dublin Ireland (20^th-23^rd June 2026)
• View the city by boat from Dublin Bay
• Enjoy some alternative cultural sites
• Experience Irish culture and meet Irish young people 
• There will also be some fun ‘Mystery’ activities.
• Free time to explore both Malta & Dublin

This combined DiscoverEU Meet Up offers a valuable opportunity to explore Malta and Dublin, reflect on the shared and contrasting experiences of island communities, connect with fellow DiscoverEU travelers, create lasting memories and have a lot of fun. Whether you are passionate about culture, history, or simply eager for a meaningful travel experience, this programme has something for everyone.

***To be eligible to attend this event, you must have been awarded a DiscoverEU Travel Pass by the EU Commission***

Important Information:

• DiscoverEU participants who applied in October 2025 and issued their pass in January 2026 will be given priority for this event.
• Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration is mandatory.
• Participation in the planned activities is required in order to benefit from the provided accommodation.
• Only participants who are available to attend both legs of Meet Up will be considered for selection.
• Travel from Malta to Ireland will be covered by the National Agencies, while your inbound flight to Malta and outbound from Dublin will be in your responsibility.

• Please note that within DiscoverEU you are entitled to travel to islands and this can be covered by the DiscoverEU program, however, kindly note that we are not in charge of bookings. Here are some possible ways to book your flight tickets: select the option “I want to travel to an island while submitting the booking form (to activate your pass), contact the contractor from hello@start-discover.eu  , or you can submit a request from here https://helpcentre.start-discover.eu/hc/en-gb/requests/new  

• We highly recommend you book your flights as soon as possible, as there is limited availability. 
• Please note that upon your acceptance, you will be given a certain deadline to confirm your flight tickets to Malta. We will also organize an online onboarding session for the selected candidates, and your participation in the online session will be requirement.
