ERASMUS+ Virtual Exchange

The Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange project 2018-2020 is now finished. Please stay tuned to the European Youth Portal for further developments!

Lucija // Slovenia

Lucija, studies philosophy and sociology in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, and is president of a local student’s club. She is interested in politics, fake news and the structures of society.

She participated in an Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange Transnational Exchange Project (TEP) for youth workers entitled “Fight Fakes, Think Critically” aimed at promoting dialogue around the topic of fake news and media literacy.

Lucija is involved with a youth organisation called CET Platforma which is part of a wider network working in south eastern Europe. “This media literacy topic was right up our street”, says Spela, who heads up CET Plataforma. She explains how the current Coronavirus crisis has brought all mobilities to a halt, so this opportunity for virtual exchange was perfect. “Virtual exchange can’t replace physical mobility, but it can certainly help to keep things going”.

Lucija underslines that the choice of topic was “excellent” and considers it a great start. “I didn’t expect people to be so ready to discuss such topics, she says, ‘it went really well. I was also worried about the tech and wifi, but everything got sorted out. We found the issue of fake news the perfect basis to initiate a debate. I hope we have more sessions as we need more time to dig deeper, discuss further and conclude our debate”.

Ideally, she would like more Virtual Exchanges to deepen the topic and more time to prepare her arguments to make it more fruitful. She believes Virtual Exchange should be complemented by an actual physical mobility experience.
