Rachida // Morocco

Rachida, Morocco

Rachida, a 21-year-old determined English Literature student and a social activist. She is originally from Morocco, and currently lives in Tunisia. However, Rachida has always considered herself as a “global citizen”. Rachida is looking forward to studying human rights, culture, and even translation as a part of being a social activist. “I am an opportunity seeker. When I discovered the Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange programme I was highly excited to take part in this exquisite journey”.

“Personally, I have been inspired and motivated to contribute more to my community since I joined the Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange Youth, Peace, and Security Course programme”. Rachida adds that “the experience is worth sharing: “It has expanded my sphere of knowledge about the related terms of conflict, violence, peace and inspired me to believe in youth as conflict transformers and peacebuilders”.

Rashida explains that she gained confidence and trust to express and exchange different perspectives as a young leader:  “Youth are the foundation of society and the most affected group by the outcomes of social, economic, political conflicts and dilemmas around the world. Therefore, youth are aware no, more than ever, to take further steps and decisions to create a bright future for us and all generations."

In this context, Rachida highlights, "The programme made me realise that there are many possibilities to seek our goals and  many initiatives that we can take together.”

“Most importantly, I had the chance to understand how conflict (in its positive meaning) is part and parcel of our lives, and without having a healthy and effective dialogue to overcome it, it is more likely that  we use violence with its multiple forms. Conflict is common but it is complex and multi layered youth, our mission is to build more constructive relationships and less violent communities”.

I was inspired by different breathtaking stories from my group members and other peacebuilders around the world.

We are capable of taking action as responsible leaders and change-makers. Our weapons are our minds to defeat the stumbles we face. We are together to support each other's contributions.
