Consultation on micro-credentials for lifelong learning and employability

Seneste opdateret den Fredag, 23/04/2021

Have your say in the establishment of a EU-wide recognition of learning outcomes.

What are micro-credentials?

A micro-credential is a proof of the learning outcomes that a learner has acquired following a short, transparently-assessed learning experience. These could be short courses or modules in digital, on site or blended format.

Why is the recognition of micro-credentials important?

Establishing a European approach to micro-credentials will help to substantially widen learning opportunities and to make lifelong learning a reality across the EU.
Micro-credentials make education more inclusive, because they are accessible to all types of learners. Also, they could foster educational and economic innovation contributing to a sustainable post-pandemic recovery.

How can you propose ideas for the development of a common definition for micro-credentials?

Take part in the public consultation! It is the right place to pitch ideas for the development of a common definition for micro-credentials, European Union (EU) standards for their quality and transparency and the next steps to be taken at the institutional level.

The consultation will be available in all EU official languages from 30 April 2021 and it will be open until 13 July 2021 at 23:59 (CET).
