New trends and practices on youth mental health and well-being across Europe
Zadnja sprememba Sreda, 18/03/2026
How has the topic of young people’s mental health evolved since the Covid-19 pandemic? What are some of the factors affecting the well-being of young people in Europe today? The new Insights aims to explore these questions in depth.
Did you know that according to the World Health Organisation, approximately one in seven adolescents experience trouble with their mental health globally? Moreover, according to the Eurobarometer on mental health, almost one in two respondents within the European Union have experienced an emotional or psychosocial problem, such as feeling depressed or anxious.
The Insights into youth mental health and well-being: existing practices and new trends, published within the framework of the EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership, aims to better understand the current realities of young people regarding their mental health and well-being. It offers an overview of the four main factors affecting young people in this regard, which include: socio-economic stability, job precarity and housing; global health, security crises and climate change; the digital transformation and social media; and the use of (generative) artificial intelligence.
This new publication also includes a policy section, which analyses European and national youth mental health initiatives, while simultaneously providing a collection of good practices and capacity-building opportunities in this field.
