SOLVE THE GAP - 48h EU Youth Digital Hackathon

Call for digital solutions boosting young people’s participation in decision-making processes.
In the framework of the EU Youth Dialogue, the Portuguese EU Presidency and the Portuguese National Youth Council are organising the SOLVE THE GAP - 48h EU Youth Digital Hackathon.
The hackathon aims to promote and support the development of youth-led innovative digital solutions to tackle the barriers young people find daily in participating in the democratic political decision-making.
During the 48h hackathon, participant teams will propose a digital tool aiming at boosting young people’s participation by tackling 1 of 5 challenges:
- Fight Youth Vote Abstention in Elections
- Youth Outreach and Access to Youth-Friendly Information
- Building Transparency and Trust in Government
- Youth Engagement in Policy-Making
- Youth in Positions of Power
The event will be parallel to the EU Youth Conference in Portugal (12th-15th March).
When
The digital event is expected to take place from 12th March at 00:00 GMT to 13th of March at 23:59 GMT.
Who can participate
The competition is open to young people (up to 30 years old) legally living in an EU Member State and who can take part in the Hackathon as participant or mentor:
- For participants: The challenge is open to teams based in any EU Member State or across several ones. A team can be composed of a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 6. If you decide to apply individually, you will have to join a team.
- For the role of mentor: you will guide teams through potential digital tools to tackle the selected problem and give inputs on the conceptualisation of a viable product.
Prize: The winner will receive 10,000EUR and support from the organisation to develop the project.
