Tromsø, Norway, is the European Youth Capital for 2026!

Recognised as Norway’s “youngest city", with nearly 50% of its population under 35, Tromsø is also home to over 140 nationalities, making it a vibrant and diverse place for young people.
Under the campaign “True North - Tromsø 2026”, young people will lead projects focused on sustainability, inclusivity and innovation, while celebrating indigenous heritage. Tromsø initiative goes beyond the city itself, involving youth across northern Norway and the wider Arctic region.
The city’s purpose? Inspire Europe by promoting creativity, civic engagement and collaboration. One of the goals is proving that the North is a vibrant, sustainable and exciting place for young people to live, work and create.
Tromsø is ready to kick off a year full of exciting youth-led projects, workshops and events.
The city will show how young voices can shape the future of their city and beyond.
