Young people are taking a leading role in climate action and education. At the Education for Climate Day 2025 (E4C), youth representatives brought fresh ideas and real solutions to the European stage. These were the outcomes of the Youth Climate LAB initiative.
As part of the Education for Climate Coalition, this year’s Youth Climate LAB gathered young participants from across Europe, empowering them to develop and share solutions for climate education. Their focus was on integrating traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) – wisdom and practices from indigenous and local communities – into classrooms and learning communities. Their outcomes were shaped into recommendations.
What did young people recommend?
On 23 October, at the Education for Climate Day 2025, youth representatives presented their recommendations and a learning scenario directly reflecting the central theme of the LAB.

The green debate: learning by doing
The Green Debate learning scenario was one of the highlights of the day. Students were able to experience both traditional and modern ecological knowledge (MEK) in action.
