The European Commission seeks advice from young people on EU external action and international cooperation.
The Youth Sounding Board (YSB) is a space for you to have an influence on EU external action and international partnerships. It aims to create a real, fundamental, long-lasting change in how the EU engages with young people in its development cooperation.
The YSB will advise the Commissioner for International Partnerships and the Directorate-General for International Partnerships on youth participation and empowerment in the field of EU international partnerships and on EU external action on topics such as employment, education, training and entrepreneurship, environment and climate change, human rights and democracy, peace and security, digitalisation and technology, gender social inclusion and health. Culture, arts, media and journalism will also be on the agenda.
The Youth Sounding Board will be composed of 25 young people from across the world (Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe).
Candidates with special needs, disabilities, in a situation of vulnerability or from minority groups are encouraged to apply.
You can apply if you:
- are between the age of 18-30 (by 26 April 2021);
- have a good command of English;
- hold the nationality of or be a resident in one of the eligible countries.
You can apply regardless of your level of formal education, therefore university studies are not a requirement. You can apply individually or be nominated by an organisation.
How much time
The Youth Sounding Board members will commit for two years, and the approximate workload will take 15 days a year. They will have at least four meetings per year (online) and, when the situation allows, in person in Brussels.
This is an unpaid mandate. However, travel and other related expenses will be covered.
To make your voice heard: apply before 26 April 2021, 23:59 CET!
