You always wanted to know how a radio works? Better yet, you want to be part of it? Not just cooking coffee for your older colleagues but realizing your own ideas and taking responsibility? Then you found your perfect workplace! Radio LOHRO is a non-profit and independent radio station in the beautiful coastal town of Rostock. We call ourselves “Mitmachradio”, which means “participation radio”. This self-definition describes our concept: everyone who wants to realize his/her ideas gets the opportunity to do it. That’s why LOHRO has about 150 volunteers participating in its programme. Our permanent employees would teach you how to conduct an interview, to plan and moderate a radio show, to investigate your topics and to handle the radio technology. Furthermore, you would attend LOHRO to town events or festivals. Join us and use these unique opportunities we offer you!
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You would live in a dormitory together with two more European volunteers. Each volunteer has his/her own, already equipped room while sharing a bathroom with another volunteer. The three volunteers share a large kitchen on their own floor. It takes about 20 to 25 minutes to get from the residence to the city centre by bus or train. Your workplace is also located there. Also, it takes about 40 minutes to get to the beach by public transport. Every month, our volunteers will be provided with pocket money (including food money) and a ticket for public transportation.

DUE TO THE CHALLENGES OF RADIO WORK, WE CAN SADLY JUST ACCEPT APPLICANTS WITH GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE! The volunteer should be cheery, open-minded and receptive to the unfamiliar.
