Volunteering in the Richterstrasse Kindergarten

FAIRbund e.V.

Leipzig, Germany

Description

The kindergarten is working inclusively and would like to become a „Welcoming kindergarten“ with a focus on helping families with migration backgrounds, refugees experiences and with diverse social living circumstances. The kindergarten is well integrated in the local community. There is a cooperation with the neighbouring European primary school „Erich-Kästner“. In the neigbourhood the socio-cultural centre „Buddehaus“ is located, which also offers great opportunities to organize common projects like parent evenings or theatre for children. The tasks of the volunteer will be supporting the educators in their daily tasks and supporting the children in the age 3-6 years old. The volunteer can implement an own project and will be supported with that by the collegues. The presence of the volunteer will facilitate multi-cultural and multi-linguistic daily kindergarten life.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will live in a shared accomodation: having an own room, but sharing a kitchen and a bathroom. Money for food, pocket money and money for a public transport ticket will be transfered each month on your banking account. The sum is 538 euros. Leipzig is considered to be new Berlin. Also a budget of 300 euros will be provide so the volunteer can do a German course. It is fastly growing city with vibrant culture and big international community. Possibility of do between 10 and 12 Months. If the volunteer stays for 12 months he will have 24 holiday days (2 holiday days per month).

Training during the activity

The volunteer can contribute with his culture and projects to the kindergarten daily routines. The first week will be introductory, then the volunteer will have regular meetings with the mentor and the tutor. Normally volunteers attend 2 seminars organised by the German National Agency for reflecting on the project and meeting other volunteers. We will help you to find a suitable German course.
