Our independent and unique children’s group is looking for a volunteer to interact with the children (aged 2.5 to 6 years) and provide a valuable cultural exchange. With guidance from experienced child carers, the volunteer will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the pedagogical concepts developed by Maria Montessori and Emmi Pikler, and to learn about non-violent communication. Through regular excursions with the group, the volunteer will also have the opportunity to get to know Vienna and the surrounding countryside. German-language courses will also be provided to ensure that the volunteer is able to make the most of their time in Austria. Volunteers will be actively encouraged to develop and share their own interests with the group. Past volunteers have found this to be a very rewarding experience that allows plenty of time to learn and reflect on the learning process, psychology and personal development of children and adults.
Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports
Accommodation for the volunteer will be located in central Vienna. He/she will live either with a family, in a flatshare or a dorm, and will have her or his own room. On weekdays, lunch will be served in the children's group, while the volunteer will be provided with sufficient pocket money to cover the cost of all other meals. Depending on the location of the room, we can provide a bike (Vienna is super bike-friendly) and/or public transport tickets.
Mācības pasākuma laikā
The project will equip the volunteer with a broad skill set that can be applied to a range of professional and personal settings, including childcare skills, knowledge of different childcare concepts and techniques, intercultural communication and listening/observational skills. Weekly meetings with child carers/mentors will ensure that the volunteer is able to discuss her/his learning experiences. He/she will also have the opportunity to learn and practice German with the children on a daily basis. German-language courses and trainings with other volunteers in Vienna are also organized.
Dalībnieka profils
You have a strong interest in working with children, and in the social and psychological development of young children (aged between 2.5 and 6 years). Although experience in this field is not necessary, we are looking for a self-motivated and out-going individual who has a readiness to share her/his culture and language. Basic German skills will be necessary. We can only consider candidates who are allowed to stay in Austria without a residential permit (especially EU-citizens).
