Description

"Deaf Festival" is 35 days volunteering team project that will take place in Thessaloniki between 1.06.2026 till 05.07.2026. The project will host 6 youngsters from EU countries . Together, we will organize different informal activities among all participants as workshops for team building, for inclusion via games, and other activities that based on non formal education. Also we will support the repair cafe activity and gainsskills how to recycle and renew items that citizents and locals gave to our coperative. With the deaf festival we want to give equal opportunities to young people with fewer opportunities in matters relating to art and culture and that why we will organize an event of shadow theatre in the end of the project. Participants will have basic lesson up to the greek and greek sign language too. Volunteers will organize also an international dinner and learn how to cook with the deaf employes of the cooperative.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Every participant will stay in a fully equiped shared flat with other volunteers. Also, he/she will receive 150 euros for food per month and 7 euros per day as pocekt money. Volunteers can have a free bike if the want to use it. Please conside if you can travel via green travel to participate in the project.

Training during the activity

The cooperative "Epomeni Stasi" is a social local business coffee bar where youngsters with disabilities have the opportunity to enter into the labor market in a safe and not such competitive environment. Volunteers will train up to graffiti and painting workshops, repair and recycle items as chairs, tables, tools and other items in general. Organizinng 2-3 different events up to cultute and art as shadow theatre and international dinner.

Participant profile

Volunteers should be highly motivated to collaborate with youngsters with a disability, to be open-minded, and accept multiculturalism too. This project is based on the principles of solidarity and social economy and volunteers should be aware of these topics. Participants will colaborate in different topics as graffiry, painting, repairing items, learn sign language and greek too, organize shadow theatre,travel on weekends and also to share room and house for 35 days with other volunteers( in total you would be 6 as voluntering team).
