Deaf festival

Deskrizzjoni

"Deaf Festival" is 24 days volunteering team project that will take place in Thessaloniki between 6.06.2025 till 29.06.2025. The project will host 10 youngsters (deaf, hard of hearing and hearing). Together, we will organize different informal activities among all participants as workshops for team building, for inclusion via games, we will support the repair cafe and gain skill how to recycle and renew items that citizents and local gave to our coperative. With the deaf festival we want to give equal opportunities to young people with fewer opportunities in matters relating to art and culture. Through activities related to culture in general, the different social groups get to know each other better and create communication channels aimed at greater their activity and mobility within the community. Participants will have basic lesson up to the greek and sign language too.

Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport

Every participant will stay in a fully equiped shared flat with other volunteers. Also, he/she will receive 150 euros for food per month. If the period of the stay is less days then we will count it by days.

Taħriġ matul l-attività

The cooperative "Epomeni Stasi" is a social local business coffee bar where youngsters with disabilities have the opportunity to enter into the labor market in a safe and not such competitive environment. We create a colorful and warm cafe bar in the city center where youngsters, citizens, and tourists have the opportunity to order via "signs" and have an experience of learning and using the greek sign language. We support l Main activities: Graffiti and painting workshops Organization of urban landscape Repair and recycle items as chairs, tables, tools and other items in general.

Profil tal-parteċipant

This is a very special project for the youngsters as deaf and hard of hearing and hearing too, that know sign language or are willing to learn. It is not obligatory for hearing participants to know before the sign language. Also, youngsters from the LGBTIQ community are welcome and refugees too that willing to join the project. Volunteers should be highly motivated to collaborate with youngsters with a disability as deaf and hard of hearing younsgters, to be open-minded, and accept multiculturalism too. This project is based on the principles of solidarity and social economy and volunteers should be aware of these topics. Participants will colaborate in different topics as graffiry, painting, repairing items, learn sign language and greek too, organize shadow theatre,travel on weekends and also to share room and house for 24 days with other volunteers( in total you would be 10 as voluntering team).
