Description

CodeWomen is a project within the MigraCode Barcelona coding program that aims to support female students. Apart from individual support to the students, the project includes and encourages any woman to join the CodeWomen sessions, events, workshops and meetups to become part of our diverse and gender inclusive community! CodeWomen also works towards awareness raising of female talent in the tech sector. Your tasks will be: - Participating in events; welcoming participants and managing logistics - Supporting and facilitating workshops, masterclasses, and coding sessions - Managing volunteers (Calendar, Slack, emails, follow-ups) - Drafting Eventbrite invitations and tracking attendance (Airtable) - Handling food, liaising with partners, and managing event photos - Managing a WhatsApp group and updating participant data - Supporting communications (social media, website) and moderating channels - Participating in ESC activities and supporting the team

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

- Travel costs reimbursed from the region of origin to Barcelona and back (up to the limits established in Erasmus+ Guide distance calculator) - Accommodation: you will share a flat in the center of Barcelona with other volunteers. It will be fully equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, washing machine, etc). It is important to be ready to share your bedroom with another volunteer of the same sex/gender. - Monthly food + pocket money: approximately €330 - Insurance (Henner for ESC)

Training during the activity

You will receive a complete induction to Open Cultural Center activities, values & principles and processes. You will receive training on OCC's safeguarding policies. You will be trained by your direct supervisor in regards to your tasks as the CodeWomen Project Assistance. You will also receive training on the usage of online work tools (Slack, Notion, Airtable, etc.). You will have access to our language courses (in presence or online, Catalan, Spanish and Arabic). During the year, you will have access to all the internal training sessions delivered to the team (ex. public speaking).

Participant profile

- Enthusiastic and committed to achieving more diversity in the tech sector; ➔ People person, happy to help others, comfortable with reaching out to strangers and networking; - Independent and creative, able to come up with ideas, find new ways of doing things, and suggest improvements; - Good command of English (Spanish is a great advantage); - (Volunteer) experience with event organisation; - Able to manage deadlines, plan ahead, and anticipate problems; ➔ Comfortable with software tools and interested in learning to use new systems, like Slack, Airtable and Notion; - Writing skills (e.g. writing engaging texts for event promotion); ➔ An intersectional feminist perspective;
