Description

Dupuy de Lôme high school is a general, technological and professional high school with around 950 pupils. Volunteer's activities: The ESC volunteer will help the pedagogical team to organize/develop/lead projects and workshops, in the high school or outside. At the student common house, the volunteer will have to organize projects with pupils about environmental and citizenship awareness to give life to this space. At the Cafeteria, a pupil’s dedicated space, the volunteer will, with the pupils, sell food and drinks, spread a playlist, decorate it, etc. to give life to this space. Last but not least, the volunteer will have to organise key moments: - thematical weeks on Health, Environmental awareness, Equality, European countries, etc. - tournaments (ping-pong, billiard table, etc.)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be accommodated in a shared-flat with language assistants on the high school site. Each one will get his/her own bedroom and will share kitchen and bathroom with the others. The volunteer will receive 220 € each month to prepare his/her own meals. The volunteer will get a monthly subscription, for free, to the bus and tramway network. Brest is a large seaport situated on the Atlantic coast (300km from Rennes which is the capital of Brittany, our region). Population of Brest : 150 000 inhabitants including 26 000 students.

Training during the activity

- Pre-departure training (PDT): organised by his/her sending organisation - On-arrival training (OAT): organised by the French National Agency - Mid-term training (MTT): organised by the French National Agency - Final evaluation: organised by his/her sending organisation or his/her ESC National Agency Besides, during his/her EVS the volunteer will get: - a task-support mentor - a personal mentor

Participant profile

We are looking for 1 volunteer from European Union countries, or from Georgia, from 18' up to 30'. Basic skills in French are requested as well as basic IT competencies. In general, the pupils have a very bad level in English, that's why it's important to be able to communicate with them in French and to go out your comfort zone to create a link with them. Candidates should have: - a good contact with youngsters - team work ability - the willingness to set up and lead activities - must be actively involved in the activities and dynamic - a strong motivation - able to take initiatives
