Description
APRODEH has 4 offices (Lima, Ayacucho, Apurímac and Huancavelica) and experience in the defence and promotion of human rights. It prioritises strategic litigation and strengthens the capacities of women's organisations, LGBTIQ people, Andean producers, people with disabilities and victims. Thematic priorities: gender, agroecology, historical memory, social and political advocacy. The volunteer will be based in Lima, will support in the coordination of activities with the person responsible for the DESCA Area, and will liaise with the headquarters in order to: - Participate in the design of projects for international development cooperation, including budgets. - Design and implementation of virtual portfolios with national and regional information to facilitate the elaboration of projects. - Participate in the design of monitoring instruments for projects being implemented and institutional commitments prioritised on the basis of the institutional strategic plan 2024-2026
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will live in accommodation in safe area with all the necessary conditions (single bedroom with key, access to individual or shared bathroom, living-dining room, kitchen, laundry, quality internet, kitchen utensils and refrigerator). It willbe located close to the office so that they can walk or take a short bus ride. Transport to and from the activities is covered. Safe conditions, access to market, supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, restaurants, etc. Accommodation in fully payed by the project. Diet: A variety of products is available in Lima including vegetarian and vegan options.
Training during the activity
As part of their placement, volunteers will be trained on institutional issues in general and in greater depth on those prioritised in the AOP 2024. Experiences of other institutions on the prioritised topics. Review ongoing and previous projects in order to learn about the institutional experience with the various cooperation agencies. Develop knowledge management skills, the design of management instruments and the presentation and substantiation of prioritised contents. Complementary tools: OLS for languages and Youthpass for competencies.
Participant profile
Ideally the volunteer should share values with the institution around respect and promotion of human rights, equity and solidarity. Interest in contributing to improving the living conditions of vulnerable people. Volunteers are preferred to have studied social sciences, strategic planning and development cooperation. With interest in learning and understanding Peruvian culture and with basic knowledge of human rights, particularly in the prioritised themes. With management, study and writing skills in Spanish. Ideally with knowledge of Peru or Latin America.
