Description
The EUROPE DIRECT centre in Pau, run by Pistes-Solidaires, aims to make Europe more approachable. EUROPE DIRECT centres are accredited by the European Commission and their mission is to inform, animate and advise on European policies, programmes, countries, etc. The volunteer will assist the “Europe Direct” coordinator in her work of providing information on the opportunities offered by the European Union at local level; lead workshops on the EU for children, young people (schools, educational establishments, etc.) and other types of audience; help to organise events such as Cafés des Langues, debates, etc; develop tools for activities on European issues; help to update and communicate on the centre's digital channels;update the centre's stock of documentation, gadgets and exhibitions.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will live in shared flat and will have a private room. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance for food and local transport + pocket money
Training during the activity
The volunteers will participate in an on-arrival and a midterm training organised by the National Agency. The costs are covered. The placement is coordinated by Pistes-Solidaires who will ensure external tutoring and training with other volunteers hosted in other local cities.
Participant profile
18-25 years old Candidates should be open-minded, motivated and interested in topics related to the EU and European citizenship, youth mobility and non-formal education, foreign languages, teamwork and communication. Knowledge of French and English is important. The volunteer should be interested in both office work and running workshops and training courses.
