The Community Engagement Volunteer will manage ABARKA’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) by creating, scheduling, and analyzing content, as well as developing small campaigns to promote ESC projects and ABARKA’s activities. They will engage with the community by supporting adult care activities in local facilities, organizing inclusive events, and collaborating with local organizations to facilitate workshops on digital literacy and well-being. Additionally, they will assist in planning and promoting cultural and social events, such as workshops and seminars, while providing administrative support, including preparing materials, documenting activities, and maintaining databases. This role focuses on fostering community inclusion and enhancing ABARKA’s outreach efforts.

Volunteers will stay in shared accommodation near Oiartzun (10-15 min to work, 15 min to city center). The house has Wi-Fi, heating, kitchen, washing machine, and bike access to San Sebastian (10km) and Irun (12km). A bus stop and supermarket are 10-15 min away. Monthly allowance: €180 for meals, €180 pocket money, €30 transport, totaling €390. Travel costs are reimbursed based on distance: €211 (100-499km), €309 (500-1,999km), €396 (2,000-2,999km), €580 (3,000-3,999km), €1,188 (4,000-7,999km).

ABARKA ONGD, a non-governmental organization dedicated to community development, social inclusion, and youth empowerment, seeks a Community Engagement Volunteer through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program. This six-month volunteer role, extendable to twelve, offers a unique opportunity for an individual aged 20–30 to contribute to local initiatives in Oiartzun, Spain. The selected volunteer, one position available, will play a key role in enhancing community engagement and social media presence while supporting initiatives focused on elderly care and social inclusion. ABARKA ONGD, committed to fostering solidarity, addressing societal challenges, and promoting intercultural exchange, provides a supportive and inclusive environment for volunteers, drawing on its extensive experience in managing international projects and working with diverse communities. Oiartzun, a small town in the Basque Country, is known for its strong community spirit and commitment to environmental sustainability. The volunteer’s tasks and responsibilities encompass social media management, including creating, scheduling, and managing content for ABARKA’s platforms, monitoring analytics, and developing campaigns. Community engagement activities involve supporting adult care in local facilities, organizing community animation events, and collaborating with local organizations on workshops for adults focusing on digital literacy and well-being. Event coordination includes assisting in planning and executing cultural and social events, and promoting them through various channels. Administrative support will also be required, such as preparing materials, documenting activities, and maintaining databases. The daily schedule consists of five hours dedicated to core tasks, and two hours for personal project development and language learning, with flexible working arrangements from Monday to Friday and free weekends, with occasional compensated weekend activities. Required competencies include proficiency in English and Spanish, experience in social media management, digital literacy with relevant tools, experience working with elderly people or individuals with special needs, and experience in social animation activities. Preferred competencies include the ability to plan social campaigns, flexibility to assist in adult workshops, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and cultural sensitivity. ABARKA ONGD provides mentorship through an assigned team member offering guidance and support, regular training covering various aspects of the role, and dedicated personal project space for individual development. Comprehensive HENNER health insurance and civil liability insurance are provided, along with safety measures including a detailed briefing, 24/7 emergency contact, and regular check-ins. Volunteers contribute significantly to ABARKA’s goals by increasing project visibility, promoting social inclusion, and supporting the mission to address societal challenges. The expected impact includes enhanced community engagement, increased awareness of ESC projects, and strengthened partnerships.
