Description
The Association for Shared Learning ELA is currently renovating its Green Education Center in the mountain village of Sturgel, located not far from Sofia. After years of experience leading national and European projects, we are now investing our energy into transforming an abandoned rural school into a functional and inspiring space for learning and community activities. For this two-month volunteer mission, we are looking for enthusiastic, hands-on individuals who are comfortable living in basic rural conditions, enjoy nature, and are ready to contribute to a meaningful renovation project that will benefit future generations.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
All volunteers will be provided with: ● Shared accommodation for the full 60-day mobility period ● Monthly food allowance and pocket money ● Local transportation support ● Reimbursement of international travel expenses, including plane tickets, within the project’s budget
Training during the activity
Volunteers will participate in: ● The training cycle provided by the National Agency, including on-arrival and mid- term sessions ● An introductory training tailored to their tasks ● Access to the OLS platform for Bulgarian language learning ● Ongoing informal learning and skill development through hands-on experience
Participant profile
We are looking for 6 motivated volunteers ready to dedicate two months to physically engaging and rewarding work. Main tasks include: ● Basic repair and renovation work on the building and surrounding area ● Woodworking, painting, and working with natural or reclaimed materials ● Outdoor maintenance and garden work ● Setting up functional spaces within the center using sustainable and creative approaches Ideal participants: ● Are physically active and willing to work with their hands ● Are adaptable and comfortable with rustic conditions ● Have an interest in sustainable practices, rural revitalization, and team-based work ● Appreciate community-focused projects and nature-rich environments
