The power of together

Looking for volunteers in the kindergarten in Würzburg, Germany!

ElisabethenHeim Würzburg e.V.

Würzburg, Germany

Description

The institution Elisabethenheim cares, educates, nurtures and supports children at the pre-school age of 0 to 6 years, in the way of christian principles. This is the base for a tolerant and open together where different denominations and disabled people are accepted and respected. The principle is lived in everyday life, because many of the children are from different countries and cultures. We look for a volunteer in a nursery group, where the children are in the age between 0 and 3 years. A day in the kinder garden is structured in: free-play time, specific offers and actions with the group, e.g. morning-circle, group-talks, children-conferences, games in a chair-circle. An important part at the kinder garden are also activities with and for the parents. There is a big playground for the children which is used every day.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer lives in a flat owned by the organisation and is located in the city centre. There are 5 people living together who share the kitchen and bathroom. The volunteer will also receive pocket money (7 euro a day), food money, German language course, Deutschland Ticket for regional trains and public transport all over Germany, insurance, reimbursement of the international travel costs (two ways) and pedagogical, organizational and personal support.

Training during the activity

The volunteers participate in two seminars, one at the beginning of their volunteer service and one at the middle of the project, each around a week long where they can reflect on their project and meet other volunteers. The volunteer will also participate in monthly meetings with other volunteers in Lower Franconia and the project coordinators from the Jugendbildungsstätte Unterfranken.

Participant profile

Motivation is the most important for us. We are looking for a person who is open-minded and patient with children. The tasks of a volunteer are to support the team, help with childcare, and as with children: cleaning tasks.
