Description
The "Learning through play" program is a unique opportunity for young people with an interest or experience in the humanitarian sector, education, or youth support. Volunteers promote social inclusion, solidarity, and resilience through activities that develop skills, boost self-confidence, and cultivate personal expression and empowerment. They will participate in experiential English language lessons, creative workshops, artistic activities, and sports activities, while • taking an active role in Street Work activities through the Mobile School mobile educational unit. • promote the development of volunteering through research and awareness-raising activities, which will include approaching, informing, and activating new volunteers • research activities examining contemporary trends and challenges in volunteering, offering a comprehensive experience that combines practical support with an analytical understanding of volunteering today.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
For volunteers coming from outside Thessaloniki, accommodation is provided in fully equipped apartments with roommates, located close to public transportation. In addition, regardless of their place of origin, volunteers will receive a monthly allowance of €210 as pocket money, €150 for food, and a monthly unlimited travel card for Thessaloniki's public transport (buses and metro). The minimum duration of the program is 45 days with 30 hours of work per week, and it takes place at the ARSIS Youth Support Center at 9 Spartis Street.
Training during the activity
Participants will receive training in key areas of the program, such as: • Mobile School Methodology: Specialized techniques for using the mobile educational structure. • Teaching English: Guidelines for adapting lessons to different levels and needs. • Youth Empowerment: Approaches to supporting vulnerable groups and creating inclusive environments. • Action research methodology and public awareness of volunteering. ARSIS provides ongoing support and guidance throughout the activity, ensuring that volunteers feel confident and prepared for their role.
Participant profile
We are looking for young people aged 18-30 from Bulgaria, Turkey, North Macedonia, or Spain, with a background or studies in education, psychosocial support, youth support, or the humanitarian sector. Experience in voluntary activities and familiarity with non-formal education approaches are desirable, while the ability to work in a team, empathy, and a genuine desire to contribute to society are essential.
