Description
Association “Humanitarian Organisation International Forum of Solidarity – Emmaus” (IFS-EMMAUS) is a local non-governmental organization established in 1999 with the mission of providing assistance and support to vulnerable population groups. Since its founding, IFS-EMMAUS has operated throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, employing around 280 staff members and engaging over 50 active volunteers. The organization maintains a strong presence through its offices in Doboj Istok, Sarajevo, Velika Kladuša, Srebrenica, and Zvornik, and is recognized as one of the largest and most self-sustainable NGOs in the country and beyond. IFS-EMMAUS implements a wide range of humanitarian and development projects, including: accommodation and care for 470 beneficiaries, educational support, soup kitchen, daily centres for children and youth, Boarding school for children of Srebrenica, implements projects promoting social inclusion and sustainable development, and so forth.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Participants will be accommodated in our facilities, which consist of motel-style lodging with shared rooms (maximum two persons per room). All necessary utilities and amenities are included to ensure a comfortable stay. Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided on-site. Participants with any food allergies or specific dietary requirements are kindly asked to inform us prior to arrival to ensure appropriate arrangements can be made. Transportation between the accommodation and the workplace will be organized and provided by IFS-EMMAUS.
Training during the activity
IFS-EMMAUS will organize a series of cultural and educational activities aimed at fostering integration, mutual understanding, and intercultural learning. A Bosnian language course will be provided will be provided to help participants communicate more easily in daily interactions and gain a deeper understanding of the local culture.
Participant profile
The participants we are looking for should have prior experience or strong motivation to work with disadvantaged groups, particularly elderly people, individuals with disabilities, and children with disabilities. Since our association is deeply involved in supporting these groups through inclusive community activities, it is important that participants demonstrate empathy, patience, and commitment to social inclusion. The participant must have a good level of English, be an active volunteer of the Turkish Red Crescent, and be able to represent the organization in accordance with the Volunteer Commitment Agreement.
