Volunteer opportunity in civic engagement and communication JYVÄSKYLÄ

Valo-Valmennusyhdistys ry

Jyväskylä, Finland

Description

Are you interested in community work, communication, and event planning? Join our Jyväskylä team to support the activities of a non-profit association. Valo is a national organization working to improve access to learning, employment, wellbeing, and participation. Our services include employment and rehabilitation, education, housing, and youth work. We work with people who are in a vulnerable life situation and may be experiencing uncertainty about the future, or gaps in education or employment. As a volunteer, you’ll help plan civic activities, support communication tasks such as newsletters and social media, and assist in organizing events. This is a great opportunity to learn new communication skills, meet people, and make a positive impact. The volunteering period is 12 months. Please, fill in the application form and additionally motivation letter/questionnaire: https://forms.office.com/e/sSN1hhbEee

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Valo is the coordinating organisation in charge of all logistical matters. Volunteers will be provided with accommodation in Jyväskylä, either shared or private depending on availability. As an ESC volunteer, you will receive health insurance and monthly pocket money. Meals are covered by the ESC program. Travel costs will be reimbursed based on the travel distance. We aim to ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for participants.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will receive orientation and ongoing support throughout the year. You’ll train your project skills and regularly reflect on your learning together with a mentor. You’ll also take part in on-arrival and midterm trainings organized by the National Agency. On-the-job learning, with support by the team, will cover civic engagement, communication tools, teamwork, and project planning.

Participant profile

We welcome young people aged 18–30 from all backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities. We’re looking for someone who is motivated, creative, open-minded, and eager to learn. No specific experience is required, just a positive attitude and willingness to contribute. We hope that you have interest in developing yourself in the area of communication and social media.
