Civic Ecology Garden II 2027
KAPNIKOS STATHMOS KATERINIS
Katerini, Graikija
Aprašymas
The Civic Ecology Garden functions as a productive garden and an open community space, promoting sustainability, reuse, and responsible food production. Volunteers engage in hands-on activities such as planting, composting, soil care, water-saving practices, and seasonal maintenance. Part of the output directly supports the organization’s social actions, linking ecological work with social support. At the same time, volunteers’ tasks are cross-project and interconnected, combining garden activities with involvement in other social initiatives of the organization. This allows volunteers to experience how ecological, social, and solidarity-based actions reinforce one another in practice. Through daily cooperation and practical work, volunteers gain insight into the social and environmental impact of small-scale initiatives, while contributing to the successful reclamation and adaptive reuse of an abandoned public space for community benefit. Funded by the SNJ Luxembourg.
