CREATE, EXPRESS, SHARE : News perspectives in Normandy

MJC Le Rond-Point

L'Aigle, France

Description

We have been welcoming EU volunteers for 12 years with all kind of projects. As a cultural association, we promote access to culture for all. This year we want to focus on the radio field, thus we offer 2 different missions to create a team of 2 long term volunteers with some common missions (participate to the daily life association and regular events, promote EU citizenship values, ...) and some separate : 1st mission : Radio animation You will host regular broadcast, create yours and generally raise the voice of those who want to express, you might also invite people in our studio to create content by interviewing them. 2nd mission : Promoting Normandy's Music Scene Through Radio You will move on the territory to interview local artists (music concerts, cultural centers, ...) to create content and support our technician with our 3000+ playlist with Normand artists and also with the sound console.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will be housed in an apartment where up to 3 people can settle in 3 separated bedrooms and share a kitchen and a living space. The association provides a financial package so you can manage your food (7€ per day) and pocket money (8€ per day). Because we do encourage green transport, a bicycle is made available for use in l’Aigle. If you have the driving license, you can use the MJC car for ESC related missions.

Training during the activity

You will participate to a ESC welcoming seminar in France with other european volunteers and to another ESC mid-term evaluation seminar. You will attend to 1 hour of French classes per week with one of our volunteers (possibility to do more). Then you will have the opportunity to get into everything you need, like radio techniques, communication (posts, videos, ...), languages workshops (French, English, Spanish and more) and youth entertainment (blind tests, all kind of cultural and sporting activity). We also encourage civic trainings and commitment.

Participant profile

Most of all, we are looking for someone motivated and not afraid of getting out of its comfort zone. Living abroad is an amazing and wonderful experience but it may not be that easy everyday of your journey. You shall want to learn new things, create, try it and share new perspectives. You eventually will be able to take initiatives once you get used to life here. Communication and organization skills will be promoted. Even though it is not mandatory, French B1 is advised because l'Aigle is a rural city, very few people speak English and you will have to speak a lot at the radio. You shall have a certain degree of sensibility to promote cultural awareness, even more for people who has limited access to it. Having a team spirit is something we promote daily, just like being open minded and empathic.
