Long-term ESC volunteering at Fryshuset as a Relationship Host
Stiftelsen Fryshuset
Stockholm, Sweden
Description
As a Relationship Host at Fryshuset, you will work closely with our Safety Host Team and play an important role in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for young people. You will be present in the everyday life of Fryshuset attendees in different spaces, such as corridors, basketball arenas, the gym, the skatepark, the foyer and the canteen, building positive relationships and supporting youth-to-youth interactions.
Under the guidance and coaching of Fryshuset staff from the Safety Host Team, you will engage with young people, notice their needs, encourage positive communication and help create a sense of belonging. The role is focused on being present, approachable and building trust through everyday interactions.
As part of the wider Fryshuset volunteer community, you will also participate in volunteer activities and help promote international mobility opportunities and Erasmus+ opportunities for young people.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Participation in the project is fully covered by the European Solidarity Corps programme. The volunteer will receive 4000 SEK per month as pocket and food money, as well as an SL public transport travel card and financial compensation for accommodation for the participant who already lives in Stockholm.
Training during the activity
You will participate in two mandatory trainings organised by the Swedish National Agency: on-arrival and mid-term trainings. Also, there will be safety courses provided.
Participant profile
We are looking for a volunteer who speaks Swedish and is interested in working with young people and learning more about relationship-building, communication and creating safe and inclusive environments. The ideal candidate is open, approachable and comfortable interacting with people from different backgrounds.
You should be willing to learn from Fryshuset staff, reflect on your experiences and develop your interpersonal skills throughout the volunteering period. We value volunteers who are reliable, observant, respectful and able to take initiative while also knowing when to ask for support.
