Eolas Soileir is a registered Educational Charity in the Republic of Ireland. All members of the board have an interest and desire in promoting non-formal education within society. They work and volunteer within the field of education, the youth sector and sustainable development. They have extensive experience in facilitating, planning and delivering trainings to a variety of groups, young people and adult learners and in the area of volunteering. All of our training programmes and activities are based on a life long learning approach and many are directed towards people with fewer opportunities in society. To promote volunteering we want to become a sending & hosting organisation for European Voluntary Service as part of the European Youth in Action Programme.
We are committed to quality learning experiences for young people, adult learners, youth workers and early school leavers amongst others. Our organisational activities also include researching and developing learning opportunities for young people and adults of varying ages and backgrounds. All our trainings are structured to accommodate the learning styles and requirements of our participants using non-formal methodologies.
We have many young people who participate in our organization, by participating in training courses, international meetings, volunteer work camps and contributing to the direction of the organization.
Eolas Soileir has been granted educational charitable status by the Irish authorities. We have a deep commitment to education and non-formal education in particular.
Our motivation to be involved in EVS is multi-fold. EVS address areas that we have been involved in for a significant number of years both through our involvement with organisations such as CLEAR, VSI, Youthreach, Sustainability Ireland, Irish Aid and other organisations that promote equality, active citizenship, holistic personal growth and human rights.
Some of our board work on a daily basis with young people who have left school early and who have either offended or are at risk of offending. The work we do address the mind, body and spirit of the young person, through creative and holistic practices. Practices such as outdoor pursuits/activities, healthy eating and food, creativity through art and drama, environmental education, personal expression & growth, all these we see as stepping stones to their personal inclusive growth to be re-integrated in our society and active citizenship.
