Centro Cultural de Hispanohablantes is a foundation that focus on issues concerning the participation and integration of Spanish-speaking immigrants in Amsterdam, with special concern for the well-being of women, the elderly and sexual minorities.
The Spanish-speaking community includes people from many different countries, cultures and backgrounds. 22 countries in 3 continents have Spanish as official language: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinee, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela. Also many other countries have important Spanish-speaking communities (just in the United States there are 45 million), and many people wherever in the world speaking Spanish as second language.
The main activities of Centro Cultural de Hispanohablantes are giving information to immigrants, language and computer courses, seminars and lectures on different subjects of interest for immigrants, and the permanent updating of internet pages where all kind of relevant information can be found. The foundation stimulates also exchange activities between the Spanish-speaking and other cultural communities in Amsterdam.
We also have a department of International Cooperation, in order to help non profit organization in developing countries to find financial support for their projects on Human Rights and Sustainable Development.
