No Excuse Slovenia is a youth organization in the public interest that strives for positive social change and personal growth of young people. With the help of non-formal education it encourages young people to social participation and activation of their peers. Young people in No Excuse Slovenia are spending their free time in a healthy way. They are raising awareness among other young people about actual topics and stimulating their critical thinking. The organization promotes and advocates through various projects for sustainable development, healthy lifestyle and active citizenship of young people. No Excuse is an apolitical and a non-profit organization that operates independently from private financiers. It operates in accordance with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals

It was founded in 2012, and some member organizations of the association in 2006. This indicates that our organization has a long tradition. Now the association includes as many as 11 member organizations, which are scattered throughout Slovenia and thus cover most statistical regions. No Excuse Slovenia consequently has the status of a national youth organization and is a member organization of the Youth Council of Slovenia. In addition we also have a status in the public interest in the field of youth (awarded by URSM). We are currently in the process of applying for status in the public interest for environmental protection (IOC) and status in the public interest in the field of health protection (granted by the Ministry of Health).

Our goal is to encourage young people for active social, political and environmental participation, as we believe in their potential in achieving positive change in society. That is why we develop, transfer and implement effective educational programs aimed at reducing health inequalities, increasing health and environmental literacy and promoting active citizenship.

We are the most awarded non-governmental youth organization in Slovenia, co-founder of successful international networks and associations and a member of many reputable international networks in the field of health and the environment.

Since the establishment in 2006, we have reached over 100,000 young people in Slovenian primary and secondary schools in the field of health promotion and sustainable development and over 500 young people have successfully completed our multi-year programs.

The main pillars of our work are youth work, public health and sustainable development. Our vision is “To be a messenger of sustainable development among young people with an emphasis on health and the environment. To offer young people in Slovenia an established platform for activating and developing their own potentials. ”

Our organization is also very internationally involved. We regularly apply for projects in Erasmus + program. We are also members of various international networks. These include EPHA, YEU, Smoke Free Partnership, DYPALL and others. We have also co-founded several international youth organizations, including the Alcohol Policy Youth Network, the European Environmental and Health Coalition, Sustainaware - Global Youth Partnership for Education on sustainable development, the YU-SEE network and the Tobacco Control Youth Network. We are also networked at the national level as members of the Youth Council of Slovenia. We are also active in other networks such as Preventive Platform, Plan B for Slovenia and the Association for Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases.
