Alvesta Municipality Exhibition Hall is a business that actively works to keep the entire building of the old railway station in Alvesta alive and available for everyone. Their goal is that the art gallery, and the other activities available in the building, is to serve as a public face for Alvesta municipality, reflect its history, scenery, culture, business and residents. The exhibitions should be accessible and exciting as well as reflective and soothing. Their wish is to try to integrate and visualize the large number of immigrants in the municipality, partly through various exhibitions but also by spreading Swedish culture at a neutral place.
Our target group is everything from travelers, (the first floor of the building still serves as a waiting hall for Alvesta railway station), to locals of the municipality, oncoming / retrieving persons to travelers and newly arrived immigrants.
As a business, we work mostly with practical tasks such as preparing for events and exhibitions, but in our work we also work with networking and to create new exhibits as well as marketing our business. We also run an antique bookstore in our premises, and it is managed by our staff and our fellow trainees daily.
An important part of our exhibition business is also to be a center of the region's performers and craftsmen where they are given the chance to create and participate in exhibitions and events. We arrange between five to ten exhibitions per year in our premises.
