he principal aim of the association “Officina Creativa Interculturale” is to spread the intercultural dialogue and multilinguism in the city of Palermo, among children and adults, teachers and families. Our educative centre “Casa-Officina” is a place where the local community can exchange and share experiences. At "Casa-Officina", Italian and foreign people can meet each other and compare their cultures, languages, lifestyles and everyday lives.
The association promotes the different languages and cultures of the world, especially through the first multilingual library for children in Palermo. The books collected are thousands, written in more than 45 different languages. Since 2013, it has been opened, in collaboration with the association "La piccola Officina", a multicultural kindergarten with children betweeen 18 months and 5 years old from different Countries. Children are everyday involved in educative regular activities, from monday to saturday, from 7.30 to 16. The other activities, in collaboration with schools and organizations, are creative workshops and language courses for children, young people and adults and multicultural events, involving people from many countries, especially immigrated people. All activities are based on non formal methodology.
The association is based on the principles of justice, social solidarity and democratic participation and it promotes civil, social and human rights among community. The association has always been interested in projects and initiatives to promote youth exchange. The people from different ages and nationalities may have a chance to get international mobility and training. For this reason, “Officina Creativa Interculturale” has participated to international European projects with intercultural aims and contents. The association is member of national and international networks, to share enpowerment and non formal methodology in different contexts. The target group the organisation wish to reach are young volunteers and partner organisations interested on intercultural and multilingual issues, motivated to discover innovative educative methodologies.
