Beskrivning av organisationen

Europe House Slavonski Brod (EHSB) is a non-governmental organisation established in September 1998 to promote the cultural, political and economic integration of Croatia into the European Union. One of its main goals is to raise awareness on the importance of European interdependence and cooperation, as well as human rights, environmental protection, natural and cultural heritage, and to create a culture of understanding, tolerance and dialogue.
EHSB organises and promotes a wide range of short-term and long-term activities such as information campaigns, cultural exchanges, as well as training courses aimed at organisations, social workers and citizens about learning mobility and European active citizenship and awareness, European history, Peace, Democracy, Human Rights, Social Innovation and Non-formal Education.
EHSB is specialised in work with young people with fewer opportunities and risk groups and has organised several youth exchanges, leadership training courses related to this public and other social inclusion matters. It has implemented projects in every Key Action, such as "Youth Up", "Winning the game"and "Boost your employability" aiming at stimulating entrepreneurial learning for the rural and disadvantaged youth, ...We also organised projects to raise the level of awareness and knowledge of citizens about civil rights in the European Union. EHSB has a vast experience in providing information to citizens, especially young people and in involving them in public discussions and debates i.e. Crostart and In the heart Europe (IPA INFO 2010; 2012). With these activities EHSB successfully increased the active participation of citizens in the public debate and discussion; increased the citizens’ awareness of benefits, opportunities and challenges of Croatian’s EU membership.

EHSB's work is based on non-formal and informal education and active participation. It cooperates with other institutions at local and regional levels such as schools, universities or other NGOs.
In 2004, EHSB established the National Association of Youth Parliaments of the Republic of Croatia, a network of Youth Parliaments from 21 Croatian towns. It is entirely based on volunteering and it aims to increase the level of youth participation in the decision-making process as well as their influence on the local community, and to develop international cooperation with similar organisations from the EU and its neighbouring countries.
Furthermore, the EIDHR project (Building a child-friendly community) concerned the protection, respect and promotion of children and youth rights in the area of the Brod-Posavina County. In addition, democracy projects (YIA projects - “Root & Wings I”, “Root & Wings II - and “Towards an active youth citizenship”) consisted in a series of activities aimed at raising the civic competencies and the awareness of young people about the importance of an active youth citizenship on the national, regional and European levels.

EHSB regularly implements both local and international projects based on public discussions, round tables, forums, inviting everyone who would like his/her voice to be heard. Some of these project are: Role and responsibility of local community's youth in the Euro integration processes; Youth Decision-Makers in Local Community; Gaining knowledge about EU by argumentative debate; School of democracy; 3D model - dialogue, discussion, debate; Towards Croatian lobby in the EU; Active young people - how they participate in the life of your community, etc.

In 2013, EHSB established the Brod Posavina County's Youth Information Centre and it became Slavonski Brod's Europe Direct Information Centre's host organisation in 2015. Since 2016, EHSB is EURODESK Multiplier.
