Organizacijos aprašas

The Cluj-Napoca Volunteer Centre (CVCN) was legally founded, as an independent organization, in December 2004. Our mission is to develop volunteerism as a means of involving citizens in solving out the problems of the Cluj-Napoca community.

Our vision is that of a solidary Cluj, in which all citizens get involved in solving the problems of the community, by offering their time, knowledge, skills, energy, talents and experience for a healthier, more beautiful community. We dream about a community in which getting involved in a volunteering activity represents an accepted and shared value, for all community members. We believe in promoting the active involvement of each person in the community’s life,
we believe in the community’s capacity for self-development, through the involvement of its own members and in the self-determination potential of each person, we advocate respecting the rights of each person, without any discrimination
Our main objectives include:
- Increasing the number of volunteers within the Cluj-Napoca public institutions and NGOs;
- Increasing the degree of community involvement of Cluj citizens, through volunteering activities;
- Increasing the innovation degree in the area of volunteerism (by implementing volunteering pilot projects);
- Increasing the visibility of volunteerism among the citizens of our community.

The Cluj Napoca Volunteer Centre is a member of the National Network of Volunteering Centers in Romania, of the VOLUM Federation (the federation of organizations supporting the development of volunteering in Romania). At international level, our organization is member of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) founded in 1970, as well as cooperating with numerous NGOs active in the field of volunteering and youth work.

The permanent services we offer are focused both on volunteers and organizations interested in working with volunteers and also on the community at large.
For organizations we:
- Recruit and recommend volunteers, for both NGO’s and public institutions in Cluj-Napoca;
- Offer support in developing a strategy regarding involving volunteers in the programs of the organization/institution;
- Train and supervise volunteer managers;
For volunteers we:
- Organize public events for promoting volunteerism and for recognizing the value of the work the volunteers are offering to the local community by their involvement;
- Organize training sessions focused on developing specific professional skills.
For the community we:
- Organize public events and campaigns for promoting volunteerism;
- Develop volunteering programs in partnership with local institutions and companies that want to encourage their own employees to become volunteers.

Our organization received the award for the “Volunteer Centre of the Year” in three editions of the National Volunteers’ Gala organized in Romania (2011-2013) and was given in 2014 the Excellency award for EVS projects by the Romanian National Agency. Our day to day activity is based both on the permanent services we are offering to the local community and on the specific projects we are implementing – including volunteering international projects, Erasmus+ and other types of projects.
