Organizacijos aprašas

The Associação Renovar a Mouraria (ARM) is a non-profit, community-based organisation founded in 2008, located in the heart of the Mouraria neighbourhood in Lisbon, Portugal. Our mission is to foster social cohesion, intercultural dialogue, and local development by combining social intervention, cultural promotion, and community empowerment.

ARM works closely with residents, migrants, shopkeepers, local associations, artists, and public institutions. Our activities are designed to address the challenges of a neighbourhood marked by diversity, urban transformation, and social inequalities. We implement initiatives that support the integration of migrants, promote cultural participation, strengthen neighbourly ties, and combat social isolation, particularly among women, elderly residents, and vulnerable groups.

At the same time, ARM develops cultural programmes such as community festivals, guided tours led by migrants, artistic workshops, and intercultural events that showcase and celebrate the diversity of the Mouraria. By doing so, we not only preserve the unique identity of the neighbourhood but also create inclusive opportunities for learning, dialogue, and participation.

Our target groups include local residents, migrant communities, young people, elderly citizens, women in vulnerable situations, and the wider Lisbon population, who are invited to rediscover Mouraria as a vibrant and multicultural space.
