Der Internationale Bund (IB) ist mit seinem eingetragenen Verein, seinen Gesellschaften und Beteiligungen einer der großen Dienstleister in der Jugend-, Sozial- und Bildungsarbeit in Deutschland. Jährlich helfen seine 14.000 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter in 700 Einrichtungen an 300 Orten rund 300.000 Jugendlichen, Erwachsenen und Senioren bei der beruflichen oder persönlichen Lebensplanung.

Die IB Berlin-Brandenburg gGmbH (am 01.01.2015 aus der Fusion der beiden Verbünde Berlin und Brandenburg hervorgegangen) betreut mit seinen rund 1000 Mitarbeitern ca. 7000 Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene in unterschiedlichen Projekten.
Seit 1991 engagiert sich der IB in der Jugend- und Gemeinwesenarbeit. Die Zusammenarbeit im Freizeitbereich auf kommunaler Ebene gewinnt zunehmend an Bedeutung. Die Jugend- und Gemeinwesenarbeit des IB versteht sich als ein Teil der Gesellschaftspolitik und versucht die Verknüpfung von kulturellem Leben und politischer Kultur wieder herzustellen und zu erhalten. Der zunehmenden Tendenz, Kulturrezeption durch schnellen Konsum zu ersetzen, wird eine Orientierung im Sinne von fantasievollem „Unterwegssein“ entgegengesetzt.
Zu den Einrichtungen zählen das Mehrgenerationenhaus ARCHE-Neuenhagen sowie der Jugendhaus BLAUPAUSE in Neuenhagen, das HAUS DER GENERATIONEN in Hoppegarten, der Jugendklub Joachimsthal, der Jugendklub Basdorf, der KLUB AM STEINTOR, die Jugendhäuser NORDSTERN und RAGBAG in Frankfurt (Oder) und einen Jugendhaus in Dabergotz. Darüber hinaus werden im Kreis Barnim mobile Jugendarbeit und Jugendkoordination betrieben.

Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt liegt im Bereich der Arbeitsmarktdienstleistungen, insbesondere im Bereich der beruflichen Bildung. Berufsvorbereitende Bildungsmaßnahmen, berufliche Erstausbildung für behinderte und benachteiligte Jugendliche, berufliche Fort- und Weiterbildung und ausbildungsbegleitende Hilfen gehören ebenso dazu wie Maßnahmen im Rahmen des SGB II.
Grundlage bilden ganzheitliche Förderkonzepte, d.h., die Unterstützung von Arbeiten, Lernen sowie Alltags- und Lebensgestaltung, bei denen ausgehend von den Kompetenzen der Teilnehmer die Persönlichkeit stabilisiert und ihre Identität gefördert wird. In den Prozessen ist Berufsidentität entscheidendes Element, verknüpft mit der Entwicklung beruflicher Handlungskompetenz. Handelndes Lernen ist didaktisches Leitprinzip der Konzepte.
Ausbildungszentren gibt es unter anderem in Berlin, in Neuenhagen bei Berlin, Strausberg, Bernau, Frankfurt (Oder), Eisenhüttenstadt, Potsdam, Brandenburg a. d. Havel, Falkensee, Neuruppin, Dabergotz und Altruppin.

The IB has established more than 700 facilities and branches in 300 locations worldwide, helping 350,000 children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens every year with their career and personal planning and offering a wide range of services. The IB-Group is politically non-aligned and non-denominational. Helping people to develop in freedom, to shape their own lives, to integrate into society, to take on personal responsibility, to actively help shaping the development of society, to encourage the willingness for social support to the individual and the society, to promote international understanding and cooperation have been core elements since its foundation in 1949 and have remained valid to the association ever since.
IB Berlin-Brandenburg gGmbH with more than 1000 employees has about 7000 children, youth and adults as clients in various projects.
Since 1991, IB is engaged in youth and community centred work. The cooperation in community work on a local level has become more and more important. The youth and community work is understood by IB as a socio-political issue and tries to re-connect cultural life with political culture. The on-going tendency to replace cultural reception with fast consumption is countered by giving orientation by creative means.
Amongst the youth institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg are multi-generation-house “ARCHE-Neuenhagen”, youth club “BLAUPAUSE”, the youth club in Joachimsthal, the youth club Basdorf, the youth club “KLUB AM STEINTOR”, the youth clubs “Südstern”, “Nordstern” and “Ragbag” in several towns in Brandenburg. In addition in the county of Barnim, we have several youth street workers.
Another focus is on vocational training and labour market services. A completed vocational training is a significant requirement for successful social integration and participation. The IB offers a variety of support solutions to people in the process of gaining a qualification: vocational orientation, vocational preparation, individual support and advice in the transition phase from school to vocational training, off-the-job trainings, and in-service support. In Germany, vocational training is carried out in a dual system, whereby the practical instruction takes place within a company and theoretical training is provided at a vocational school (college). Young people who do not find a company in which to complete their vocational training can pass the vocational training in a vocational training centre.
IB has vocational training centres in Berlin, Neuenhagen, Strausberg, Bernau, Frankfurt (Oder), Eisenhüttenstadt, Potsdam, Brandenburg a.d. Havel, Falkensee, Neuruppin, Dabergotz und Altruppin.
