opis organizacije

We have had the former EVS accreditation since 2000, Sarepta Home (our former name) was the very first institution that received the accreditation within the program 2000-HU-01. There was a decision about the name change in 2019, we add this document to the Annexes.
We have altogether more than 100 staff: 72 of them are working as nurses and 6 as special education teacher/pedagogical staff. The rest is 5 maintenance, 4 laundry workers, 8 kitchen workers and 8 office staff member, 1 pastor.
We offer residence at the institution for 98 people with disabilities and 96 elderly.
Our staff teams are skilled in working effectively with disabled and/or elderly people and have significant experience in both social care and nursing.
We would like to integrate the volunteers with the cooperation of the supporting organisation MRSZ-ÖDE as a lead organisation. We will support the volunteer's personal growth and daily activities with care and attention, but we will not submit an ESC application for a grant. We are very thankful for the cooperation with ÖDE during the last year 20 years.
Our motivation to host volunteers:
• encourage a multicultural environment and greater awareness of Europe, in particular, who may have limited access to international experiences. We have had volunteers in the past also from EU countries and Ukraine as well.
• provide a learning opportunity to volunteers with the possibility of pursuing future work in this field,
• stimulate ideas and development amongst staff.
We don’t ask our volunteers to have any specific skills. We offer personal support to our volunteers and are able to support all volunteers in their learning experience. We feel that skills can be acquired but real enthusiasm and passion are qualities that only people with a real interest in the project can bring. Trust, self-esteem, well-being, and acceptance are key features.
It is important to raise awareness among young people that they are citizens not only of their own country but also of Europe and they can learn many things to accept people with disabilities or the elderly. Young people should participate in European projects to get to know the similarities and differences between the various countries in Europe, to become involved in democratic life and to learn about Europe in different ways. This learning can be general learning about life in Hungary, but the main focus is to learn about the situation of people with disabilities or the elderly. We want to support young volunteers in learning for life, in finding new friends, getting to know other volunteers, learning a new language and bringing people closer together. This can happen on many levels when the volunteer is working at the placement, or making friends in Budapest etc.

Also as a residential home for the disabled and elderly, we hope to open a door for the volunteers to see whether they would like to work in these fields later in their life. It is important for us, even if they do not commit to this field that they can be more flexible towards the disabled and elderly when they go home.
Regular activities:
The home is for mentally disabled youths and adults, but there is a department for elderly people as well, run by the Lutheran Church. At the area of the home are several buildings for living and also for different therapy activities. There are units for the disabled and elderly as well. We offer a home at the institution for 98 people with disabilities and 96 elderly.
The work with people with disabilities:
The home offers ca. 100 places for disabled people. Regarding the decision of the volunteers can work with the elderly or people with disabilities. The home also offers special education, rehabilitation, workshops and physical therapy for people with disabilities. The institution offers physical, ergo and logotherapy and conductive therapy are also available.
The aim of the home is to give disabled people assistance for the best possible independence they can achieve. The home also offers different workshops for the disabled like weaving, making small carpets also for selling outside the home and other creative workshops.
Working with the elderly:
At the unit for the elderly ca. 100 people are living. Professional staff is taking care of them in small apartments. Most of the clients lived for a long time in the institution. This is also a reason for creating a living- and caring environment, where everyone is satisfied and this is happening through the offer of individual care and welfare. Therefore we offer not only nursing for the elderly but some programs for them and there is also regular worship for them.
