Song of the Goat Theatre Association is a national and international cultural operator formed in 2002. We have several programmatic components:
1) Song of the Goat Theatre (http://piesnkozla.pl/en/)
Established in 1996 in Wrocław by Grzegorz Bral and Anna Zubrzycki, Song of the Goat Theatre (Teatr Pieśń Kozła) has developed an international reputation as one of Europe’s most innovative theatre companies, committed to researching what makes theatre distinctive to other art forms. Song of the Goat Theatre’s ever-evolving training, rehearsal, and performance process approaches art-making as a laboratory, enabling the Company to research the craft of the actor and director and to evolve new techniques, performance languages, and work. Commitment to connection informs the development of each new training approach, which always seeks to integrate movement, voice, song and text, creating performance that has an inherent musicality and connects with the audience on a sensory level. The company trains, offers workshops, and presents work locally in Wroclaw as well as throughout Europe and the world.
2) Brave Festival: Against Cultural Exile. (www.bravefestival.pl)
Brave Festival is an international arts festival started in 2005. It is dedicated to the preservation and sharing of cultures and art forms that are marginalized and endangered. Each summer the festival brings artists from around the world to perform and share their arts and traditions with audiences here in Wroclaw. The Festival features concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and a film program. All events are open to the public, allowing people to see and experience artistic performances that they might otherwise never encounter.
3) Brave Kids & Brave Kids Together (www.bravekids.eu)
Brave Kids is a unique cultural-educational project founded in 2009 and dedicated to uniting children from different parts of the world in an atmosphere of friendship, peace, and respect for each other’s arts and culture. During 3.5 weeks each summer, artistic groups of children come together in order to share their arts and cultures. The invited artistic groups come from different backgrounds: some from countries affected by humanitarian issues like natural disaster, poverty, and political conflict and others from more stable backgrounds. Together, all children participate in artistic workshops based on the core philosophy "kids teach kids" and work collaboratively to create a final performance that is presented to the public. Under the guidance of professional artistic instructors, young participants teach and lead each other, encouraging them to exchange ideas, skills, and approaches. Participants are supported to discover their own unique potential and value, which raises their confidence and aspirations. By collaborating with other young people from diverse backgrounds on a common creative project, participants develop their ability to communicate and learn to understand difference and celebrate common experience. This valuable and exciting artistic process nurtures the emotional and social development of its young participants, helping them to make steps towards positive transformation in their own lives and in their communities in the long-term. Over the life of the festival, we have grown from hosting 15 children from three countries in 2009 to 300 children from 21 countries in 2019. In addition to the summer edition, Brave Kids also produces smaller year-round events in the local community.
Since 2018 we have also organized the Brave Kids Together project. Brave Kids Together is an extended version of the Brave Kids project which addresses a need to create a space for children and youth with disabilities to integrate and exchange with other groups in the creative process. The idea of the project is based on diversity as a value and the belief that everyone despite their background and impairment is a fully valuable person and can have a positive contribution to the community. Art is a perfect tool to express it.
4) Brave Together (http://www.bravefestival.pl/pl/pages/brave-together)
Brave Together creative integration project is a multi-level project started in 2016 and directed to various groups of recipients, including groups of people with and without disabilities, therapists, organizers and workshop leaders, designed to influence their mutual integration through artistic activities and facilitate access to culture for people with disabilities. The project was prepared in relation to the activities of the Song of the Goat Theater Association.
