Local Democracy Agency Subotica was established on the 1st October 1993 as a result of the agreement between the Council of Europe and the local government in Subotica and as a part of larger initiative of European local/regional authorities to promote democratic governance and participation in local community. Since 1998, when the Association of local democracy agencies (www.alda-europe.eu) was established, LDA Subotica operates as the member of the network of this Association and as the local registered civil society organization working mainly in the following priority areas:* Capacity building and training programmes for local civil society and local self-government for EU integration* Cross-border and regional cooperation programmes* Youth empowerment and trainings, youth volunteering programmes* Promoting increased citizen participation at local level* Promoting intercultural dialogue and good governance in multiethnic local community* Publishing activitiesToday, LDA Subotica operates as an NGO promoting EU integration at local level, citizen and youth partcipation in local self-government and is actively engaged in cross-border and Europe-wide decentralized cooperation. Our main target groups are citizens of different ethnic background, local elected/appointed councilors, youth groups, women's groups. Main projects implemented over the past years are related with capacity building of local civil sector, local authorities, youth and were supported by various EU programmes.LDA Subotica is covering also the territory of Autonomous Province of Voivodina, including the co-operation with the municipalities across the region and the work with the regional authorities of AP Vojvodina. LDA Subotica has a long term close co-operation with the partners and with Wolverhmpton City Council (UK) as the Lead Partner. LDA Subotica has an office (24 square metres) at the first floor, located in city centre, (building of the Open University as an Education/University centre, location of a number of other civil organisations, media institutions) well equipped with PC-s, printers, Internet connection. In addition LDA Subotica has a fully equipped CSO Resource and training centre in the same building (ground floor), with an additional office (22 km2) and the training room 50 km2, that will be shared with other volunteers in Subotica. LDA Office is centrally located in Subotica (population of 150.000) in the proximity of EU borderline with Hungary. Office is equipped with 3 PCs, printer/scanner, internet connection.
